School Year 2023-2024

December 2023

Dear P140K Families,

December is a very special time of the year for people all around the world. It is a month of multicultural holiday celebrations, including Christmas, Hanukkah (Festival of Lights), St. Nicholas Day, Kwanzaa and Feast of Immaculate Conception, Winter Solstice- just to name a few!

As we head into the holidays, families are struggling to make plans, dealing with frustration of the holiday or still dealing with a loss of a family member. With all of this in thought, we all have to be grateful that we made it this far and still adjusting to the changes in life during the past couple of years. When there has been so much change and what may feel like a never- ending struggle, it can be easy to overlook the small moments of joy that can uplift us. These moments of joy can be waking up in the morning, enjoying a cup of coffee/ tea, seeing your kids, giving your kids a hug and kiss. So, let us finish out this year with more joyful moments.

We had our November Family FriYay on November 10. A special thanks to the parents who freely gave their time for this event.

I look forward to seeing you at the next one. December Family Friday Friday, December 8, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Meeting ID: 922 5421 7732 Password: 528939

September 2023

September is National Hispanic Heritage,Courtesy, Self-Improvement, Better Breakfast Month

Dear P140K Families,

Welcome to the School Year 2023-2024! We are off to an awesome school year at P140K. I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing summer and is ready for a new school year. I truly enjoy seeing the smiles and excitement of all the students on the first day of school. Our goal is to capture that excitement for learning each and every day of the school year.

P140K takes pride in creating a welcome community for your child. You are an important part of this community, and we appreciate your participation and suggestions. We encourage all parents to be actively involved in their child’s education. As Parent Coordinator, I am available to listen and respond to your concerns regarding your child’s education.

Throughout this school year, P140K will host various workshops and training for families. In addition, District 75 hosts workshops and events across the boroughs and provide additional support and resources to families. We encourage parents to attend our and the district workshops and events. Every month I send out Parents’ Corner Newsletter and Calendar to keep you informed about upcoming events, Back to School Meet & Greet, Town Hall and Family Fridays.

It is important that families return permission forms, questionnaires/surveys, blue cards and medical forms in a timely manner. These forms help the school prepare activities for your child, understanding their medical needs, contact family in the event of emergencies, and let us prepare accordingly for events and meetings.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments, concerns or to get involved with our Parent Teacher Association, any suggestions for workshops, events or activities are welcomed and encouraged. I can be reached by email: arodriguez128@schools.nyc.gov or phone (929)553-8677 Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

I look forward to seeing all of you and encourage you to take a moment to attend a workshop or event this school year. You are a valuable member of our school team/community, and we need your support in order to help our students achieve success.
